Susan Lewin, MA, Dip.Couns, Registered Member MBACP (Accred)

I am an integrative psychotherapist and supervisor and my private practice is based in Bounds Green and Barnet in north London.
My clinical experience has encompassed work as a university student counsellor, counselling employees on work-related issues in large organisations, and in private practice.    I have also practiced as a family and couples therapist for various agencies and I facilitate Systemic Constellations workshops.   I have a particular understanding of family crises, life cycle transitions, couples and relationship issues and the problems that are handed down through the generations.

My clinical experience is greatly enhanced by my work as a lecturer, trainer and supervisor at the School of Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology at Regent’s University and at CPPD.   I believe that listening to ourselves and others is the key element that leads to understanding and change.

How I work

I integrate two main theoretical models and draw on these, my own life experience, my knowledge and my therapeutic skills, to respond to the needs of each particular client.   As a humanistic gestalt therapist I am looking to create a relationship with my client through which their past and present subjective experience is recognised and accepted.    In this way clients become increasingly aware of how they relate to others and how they make the choices they do.  New possibilities and choices may then open up.   My practice also integrates the theories of systemic family therapy and I am always looking at the client or supervisee in the wider picture of their interlocking systems and generational belief systems..

I trained in psychodynamic supervision at Leicester University.    I supervise groups and individuals and always try to embody my theoretical approaches in the room with my supervisees.
